Matt Matt’s Recovery

The Doctors are saying Matthew Massey is doing really good inspite of his injuries. He is stable which is a good thing.  They have him sedated so he can hear and react, they do have him on a ventilator but only so they can keep him under sedation while they watch his right lung start to heal. The ventilator is not because he can't breath. They said he is doing really good breathing on his own. He went in yesterday sitting up and answering questions. His brain is bruised - not bleeding from the impact - they said it will heal itself. She said the helmet saved his life. They are keeping him in icu to keep a closer eye on him. They go in periodically - lower the sedation meds and he wakes up - opens his eyes. They said when they ask him to give them a thumbs up, he does. His face is pretty banged up from his glasses, some cuts on his forehead and his right eye is very swollen. He does have a lot of road rash. We're not sure how the accident happened. Him and his father in law were riding motorcycles less than a mile from their house. FIL said they were going about 35 miles an hour just taking it easy. He looked in his left mirror to check on him and he was fine then he immediately looked in his right mirror and he was gone - it happened that fast. His wife, Amanda, got to see him for about 30 min Saturday and he knew she was there- he kept squeezing her hand. She is calling constantly to check on him and they keep saying he's good. We are just waiting. It is very hard not being with him but he is going to be ok. Its going to take him a while to recover. What is amazing is the first 3 responders were all pastors . He has thousands of people praying for him and he is so strong. Pray for him. He is in a lot of pain. They have him on pain meds and his injuries are bad but not getting worse. Thank you all so much for your prayers please keep praying, he has no idea how many people love him. We thank God he is still with us. As you can see, Matt Matt has a large family to take care of. They are blessed with six children and one on the way. Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. ❤️
