Matt McGee’s Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Hey everyone, I’m Lauren, Matt’s co-driver and friend. I am reaching out to friends and family, especially in the rally community, which Matt looks at as being more like a family than anything else. If you know Matt, you know his love for rally and his passion to share this love to others. Matt and I were signed up to race at Boone Forest Rally this upcoming weekend, however had to withdraw last minute due to an unexpected medical complication. Beginning early last week, Matt began to experience severe pain radiating down his back and into his right leg, causing him to be unable to sit, stand, or walk. He was rushed to Riverside Hospital after going to the emergency room and was immediately admitted for further workup. Matt spent 5 days in the hospital while undergoing imaging, pain management, steroid shots, and meeting with a neurosurgeon to discuss further treatment. Matt has since been discharged home however continues to be unable to be out of bed for more than 5 minute intervals and has to use a walker due to the pain. Since last week, Matt has been unable to go to work or do simple daily tasks that are so oftentimes taken for granted. His wife, Jamie, has done an amazing job taking care of Matt, on top of juggling their 3 kids with school, sports, and daily errands to make sure everyone is taken of.
I can confidently say that Matt would be the first person to pitch in to help those in need, and I ask you all to consider doing the same for him. If you’re unable to offer a donation, I ask that you send him words of encouragement and make sure he knows everyone is rooting for him to POR.
Side Note: It is safe to say, we’re going to need that “prescription strength suspension” for the rally rabbit now.
