Matt Rivera & Family: Strong In Faith Vs. Cancer

My name is Alissa Rivera and I am here to share the story of my husband, Matt Rivera, who has been facing a challenging battle with Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer. Our family of six, including our four beautiful children, has been through a lot over the past few years. Three years ago, we made the difficult decision to move from Fresno, California to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was a leap of faith, but one that ultimately led to blessings in the form of Matt securing a job in law enforcement. However, our happiness was shattered when Matt was diagnosed with this life-threatening blood cancer in January 2024. This devastating news hit close to home, as Matt's aunt had lost her battle with the same disease a decade ago. Despite the fear and uncertainty that came with the diagnosis, Matt started his cancer treatments in April with courage and determination. As we prepare for the next phase of his treatment, which includes stem cell extraction and advanced procedures in the coming months, we are facing a new set of challenges. Matt will need to take time off work for at least three months, putting a strain on our family's finances and resources.
