Matt Sandford ER Bills and Recovery
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Chris Sandford.
On Wednesday morning January 4th, my brother, Matt Sandford woke from extensive chest pain and was experiencing a massive heart attack at home.
The ambulance was called took him to the nearest hospital. Unfortunately, in the ambulance Matt's heart stopped suddenly and had to be revived in the ambulance. When getting into the cardiac department of the hospital, his heart stopped again and he had to be revived more times after that.
Doctors were able to determine there is major blockage in the heart, and placed up to four stents in his heart to prevent another cardiac arrest.
Which thankfully, that did work so far! His heart has been able to work on his own after receiving the stents.
Since being in the ambulance, Matt has been on a ventilator and mostly under sedation.
Over the past 48 hours, they've tried lowering sedation and removing the breathing tubes, but his oxygen levels dropped significantly, and his heart rate increased. They seen some abnormality on X-ray of his lungs which could be causing more stress on his heart. Because of this, he was placed back on the breathing tubes and is still under heavy sedation. They believed it could be pneumonia or a blood clot. Recently, the did rule out a blood clot. So they are suspecting just pneumonia. During the times when the doctors did lower sedation, Matt was able to answer yes or no questions. Which is a good sign. We are praying for more good signs with this situation and our family could use all the thoughts and prayers.
We are asking for everyone's help with potential medical bills and recovery, because those who know Matt, knows he had a labor intensive job in commercial HVAC work. When he gets better, Matt may not be able to get back to work right away. We want to keep the stress down, and that includes financial stress.
Matt was in between job positions when this happened as well, and we're not sure if he has an active medical insurance. He has also been at crossroads in his life and needs our support now more than ever because of it. He Just came to Illinois to visit my family and I for New Years. We are all devastated and broken hearted and want nothing more than Matt to be out of the woods with this. My father, John Sandford, has been at this hospital every day and night since this happened. Everyone who knows Matt, knows that he would help anyone in need and give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. Please help Matt and our family! Please say a prayer for Matt! Thank you so much!
