One of the many values about Hillcrest South, is that we are a family. When one gets knocked down, we all rise.
Veronica Leal is a beloved nursing leader and ICU charge RN for Hillcrest South the last 15 years, but has served her community as a RN for over 20 years. She is treasured by many as our “momma V”. She has further developed a respected bond with multidisciplinary team members throughout HHS.
Veronica’s beloved husband, Matthew is also adored by staff. Over the years, many of us have had the pleasure in visiting with him during his infamous tamale or breakfast burrito drop offs as a kind gesture towards our team. Or when he simply wanted to drop by and surprise his “woman” with her favorite sweet tea.
Matthew recently received a devastating diagnosis. He is hospitalized in critical condition. Veronica has remained by his side, and therefore unable to work.
Our team has came together to create this fund that will go directly towards their family’s financial burden throughout this time. We encourage any who would like to share this fund amongst others.
On behalf of Matthew and Veronica, their immediate family and friends, we appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support over the past few weeks, and undoubtably in the months to come.
