Hi my name is Denise West. I’m trying to raise funds to help Matt’s mom Crystal Shifflett. Her son Matt was riding on Merritt Blvd and German Hill Rd. in Dundalk and was hit by a speeding car. Matt was thrown 20-30 feet on Wednesday 11/8/23. Matt has been in the SICU at Johns Hopkins BayView since Wednesday. He has multiple skull fractures, multiple brain bleeds, swelling of the brain. Saturday they did the first test to see if there was any brain activity. Sunday they did the second test to see again if there was any brain activity and there was none, and at 2:47pm Matt was pronounced dead. No mother should have to worry about laying their 19 year old child to rest.

He loved riding bikes he spent his whole life riding bikes. This is the second time he’s gotten an accident with a bike involved, but this time it is life-threatening taking his life from him. No mother or stepfather should have to bury their child or cremate their child. He had a passion for being a mechanic he wanted to be a mechanic he loved working on anything with a motor anything fixed, he had a love relationship with his baby sister four years old, and his great grandmother. He had a very good relationship with her. He was a good kid with a great heart who was turning his life around for the better, and now his life is being taken away, he also read the Bible every single night before he went to bed
