Matthew Curtin and family

If you knew Matt Curtin, you loved him.  He was truly larger than life.  Many of his friends called him “Big Matt”.  On 06/29/18, we lost a great man, father, brother, son, husband, friend and crime fighter.  I have had the privilege to know Matt since I was 16 years old.  Over the years Matt and I grew closer and closer.  He became a brother to me.  We both got hired on the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office together.  We were often called Batman and Robin and joked about who was Batman.  We have had many amazing adventures.  Not only was Matt my best friend, brother, partner, partner in crime, he also became my brother-in-law.  Matt married my wife’s twin sister, Alison Curtin.  Together they made the cutest little boy I have ever seen, Jaxson Curtin.  Matt was days away from being medically retired from the Sheriff’s Office.  He had battled numerous injuries protecting and serving the people he loved.  Matt loved helping anyone and everyone.  He would drop anything to be there if called upon.  Matt and Alison looked forward to their future together, raising Jaxson.  Just this week Matt told me how he looked forward to taking Jaxson to t-ball practice.  Heart disease sucks.  A wife is without her best friend and husband.  Jaxson is without an amazing father.  Matt was the financial provider for his family and due to his family history of heart disease, he did not qualify for life insurance.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  All proceeds will go to Matt’s wife and son.  Thank you.
