Matthew Pike Accident
Donation protected
A tragedy amid a family separated across the country by a move to better their future. A description that seems to be a understatement when learning about what the Pike family is going through. The Pike’s had been so excited and been waiting patiently for the brand new apartment complex to open where they had a application accepted and a apartment ready to start their new life in Seattle, WA. Wife Lily and 15 month old son were in Washington preparing for the move and husband Matthew Pike was continuing to work at his jobs in Indiana and providing financial support as they made the transition . The plan was for Matt to come at the end of July when they were financially stable.
The night before the big move, Lily was in the middle of loading heavy furniture into their Uhaul truck, when she got the most devastating phone call she’s ever had. Matt was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle and the injuries he sustained were catastrophic. He was immediately taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
As Lily had to keep it together the best she could, she loaded up the truck with no knowledge of the condition of her husband. Thankfully he made it through the crucial period and was stabilized from the life threatening condition. As Lily started moving in the next day, she was at a complete loss of what to do. She knew she had to get the apartment taken care of for the family and that it would take until the end of the week. This was the worst possibly timing because not only from living expenses, but Lily and Cooper had COVID the previous two weeks prior. Luckily lily found a foundation to pay for the flights and dear friends of Matt paid for their hotel stay and a week of car rental.
Before Cooper and Lily touched down. Matt underwent multiple surgeries and transfusions for the injuries he sustained. With the severity of the injuries, And now he is looking at a very long and difficult road of recovery. And daily medical assistance will be needed for the foreseeable future. The time frame of recovery is unknown at this time as the multitude of severe injuries will require significant time and physical therapy.
Obviously this has detrimentally affected the Pike family not just emotionally but financially. Not only will they no longer be getting the biggest source of income from Matt’s employment, but there will be numerous medical and travel costs, As well as the loss of income from the period of time Lily has taken off from work for both COVID and the current trip she is on in Indiana. While she is there to not just support Matt but step in as his caretaker/ medical authorized representative. She has been hard at work, getting the best possible care for Matt during this time.
I’m asking that if you could please help this family. Both of these two individuals have come a very long ways as people and now are great parents to a incredible little boy. Help them to continue to be able to provide a roof over their heads , food on the table and comfort to their son Cooper, as well as help with Matt’s recovery, ensuring that he gets the best care and support he needs
