Matthew's Support Emma Fund
Donation protected
My cousin Matthew Amsler went missing from Chatham, MA on Thursday October 27th. His wife Catherine reported him missing on Friday after he did not come home. She called his place of work, and they let her know he never showed up for his shift. Matthew suffers from schizophrenia. He was diagnosed several years ago and it has been a struggle for his family since then. Within this past year Matthew has really been on track, going back to school and was able to hold down a steady job. He also has a daughter Emma, who will be 2 in April. Mental health disorders are very difficult to manage on a day to day. Matthew has been in and out of treatment, and has been doing great with his medication. However, with mental health issues, it is ever evolving, and medication works at times, and at times it does not.
Recently we believe Matt had a bad reaction to his medication, resulting in him leaving home. We have contacted local police who have been looking for him, as well as some media outlets, such as Fox 25 news who have helped get the word out. Matt is not in a good mental state of being, and his Mother, Wife, and family are all very concerned for him! With him being gone it has been difficult for his wife and mother to work full time, while searching and communicating with family, and authorities.
We are asking for some help to cover some bills that he was assisting with paying like the mortgage, and some utilities, as well as a little extra to help cover the cost of an investigator to try and help us bring Matt home!
Anyone who has ever dealt with mental illness themselves, or in their family know the stigma that comes attached with it. Matthew is a kind, generous, and caring husband, father, and son! He loves his wife, and daughter, and would never intentionally do anything to hurt his family. However, right now he is not himself, and he may not be fully aware of his actions. We need to find him, we need to bring him home, and we need to continue to help him through treatment! Nobody ever asks to be handed these struggles…and our family is close and has been doing what we can to provide support from all over the country! We just need a little extra help! Anything donated will 100% go to finding Matt, and caring for his family in this difficult time! Thank you.
