Unexpected Death of Matthew Whaley

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the untimely, and shocking death of Matthew (Barney) Whaley. He passed August 3rd surrounded by his closest loved ones.

Matt was a hard worker, taking great pride in his trade and providing for his loved ones. He took a retirement from P G & E only to continue working for two other electric companies and changing the lives of so many that he trained over the years. He was currently on disability, waiting for knee surgery, when he fell ill and was admitted to the hospital on June 10th. In the weeks that followed we discovered he was in full kidney failure due to an auto immune disease that had been unnoticed and ultimately took him from us with such short notice.

He shared 44 years if marriage with Della before her passing in 2017, followed by the death of his fiance Danielle last October. Barney was the loving father of Jason and Diana, and had one granddaughter, Emma.

The emotional pain that comes with losing the second parent in just three years, also comes with financial stress. An unplanned estate and untimely death made harder by the medical bills and debt left behind.

Dad wanted a party, not a somber service so we will celebrate the man he was with a celebration of life. The amount of friends, family, and electrical brothers Matt had mean it will be a great, big party!

Any funds raised will go to both of his children to help pay for the celebration cost, overwhelming medical bills, and then miscellaneous bills that they have incurred.
