Matthew's Kidney Recovery Fund

My big brother is Dr. Matthew Bristol. He is a self-employed podiatrist serving at the Brownsville Clinic in Brooklyn, New York. He has dedicated his life to helping people get back on their feet--literally! When he developed kidney disease (FSGS) five years ago the fact of complete kidney failure became his reality. His journey to fight for life began.  The wait also began. According to his blood type, medical teams prepared him for a wait as long as 8-10 years. 8-10 years of weekly visits for dialysis. 8-10 years of fatigue, infected ports, and long hours in the clinic. He began to save as much money as he could towards a transplant in addition to saving for retirement and medical costs related to dialysis.
 
But on July 12th, 2020  the prayers of my family and friends were answered ahead of the planned schedule. We are truly grateful to God and family for the many prayers and support.


Now he faces months of recovery in the age of COVID-19. The unexpected surprise comes with a recovery that will include quarantine and strict rules of interaction as his immune system recovers. That translates into a severe reduction in the self-employed income he needs to cover transportation, housing, food, medical costs and many other expenses for the next three months. He is looking forward to returning to the work that he loves. We are asking for assistance to help him survive until he can do just that. Every dollar will help to reduce the burden of finances as he recovers from the precious gift he has received. 


This year on August 13th our big brother will turn 55 years old. In a sense he has already received the best present in the world! Hopefully with your help he can live another 20 years doing the good work after his recovery.  Again, every dollar helps to further a new beginning...a new lease on life.
