Matthew's Miracle Milestones

We are reaching out on behalf of Matthew McManus, who recently endured a life-changing event.

On the morning of Sunday, July 23, 2023, Matthew was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident that tragically resulted in the amputation of his right leg, as well as severe right arm and left leg fractures. At the scene of the accident, Matthew tied a tourniquet around his own right leg with his shirt and shoelace, to help control the bleeding until help arrived, which doctors later said saved his life (in addition to wearing a helmet). While we are indescribably grateful that he survived, the journey to recovery has just begun, and he needs our support now more than ever.

Matthew was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina where he graduated from Bishop England High School in 2018. A talented athlete, Matthew especially excelled in baseball, where he helped his teams win two State Championships. Matthew is an avid outdoorsman who loves to golf, hunt, fish, and be on the boat or at the beach. He loves boats and the water so much that he decided to make a career out of it and currently works as a certified outboard motor technician, boat mechanic, and boat detailer for several years now.

Matthew values his family, friends, and faith more than anything. He is a beloved son, brother, uncle, boyfriend, and dog dad just to name a few. He has one of the kindest hearts and would do anything for anybody. He loves big. He is fiercely loyal, hard-working, and driven. He has a calming demeanor about him and has always been a gentle giant. He is humility personified.

Matthew's positive spirit has always been an inspiration to those around him, and despite facing immense physical and emotional challenges, he remains remarkably optimistic and determined to rebuild his life. With multiple surgeries ahead, extensive medical treatments, and rehabilitation, Matthew's road to recovery will be long and arduous. However, we firmly believe that with the power of compassion, grace, and kindness, we can help alleviate the financial burden that comes with such a journey.

Our goal is to raise funds that will cover Matthew's medical expenses, specialized prosthetics, physical and psychological therapy, and necessary home modifications to accommodate his new circumstances. These financial needs are significant, and we are hopeful that through your kind generosity, we can provide Matthew with the best care and resources available to facilitate his recovery.
