Mattresses for Orphanage beds

Hi my name is Jasmine Wright and I’m continuing to raise funds on behalf of my friends in Uganda. You might already know of the connection between our local Cannonvale State School & this school Sunrise School, UGANDA.

This is the next step in supporting those very same children ☺️

We are aiming to raise money to help purchase mattresses for the beds in the dormitory at school before 25th January when the children start back for school.

Project summary:

Katungu Needy and Orphan Children’s Project was established to take care of the needy children, provide quality education for the underprivileged, impact the lives of women, children and the needy people in the community.

In the execution of the organisation’s objects, the organisation established a school called Sun Rise School in Katungu Village, Kabale District in Southern Western Uganda, currently having a population of over 500 hundred students of which 350 are orphans and needy children.

The orphans rely solely on the organisation thus we provide them with food, education, medication, accommodation and the necessaries.

Recently the sleeping dormitories where have been upgraded. It was a huge task but with a lot of support from donations and community we were able to construct a new and much safer place for sleeping. THE NEXT STEP IS PURCHASING MATTRESSES TO FINISH OFF THESE DORM ROOMS.

In Katungu village, the Vulnerable children and Orphans are always confronted with serious social and psychological social problems such as lack of shelter, maltreatment, child labour, sexual abuse, child marriages for the girls and exploitation, this due to lack of protection and care. These affect their welfare and upbringing.

The organisation committed itself to impact the lives of these orphans to ensure that they are not only protected from the social and psychological problems but also provide a home for them and guarantee a better life for them.

However we only have a few short weeks before mattresses are needed for the new dormitories 25/01/25

Target Area & Beneficiaries

This project is intended to benefit all needy and orphan students who stay at the school a total of 250 between the ages of 6 – 15 years of Sun Rise School, Katungu Village - Kabale district. We are seeking funds to provide 150 mattress costing $30 AUD

Goal

The goal of this project is to purchase 150 new mattresses to promote a, good sleep & a comfortable learning environment. Allowing good care which will reduce disease outbreaks, and low self- esteem.

Duration

The project is a one-off project that will require the school purchase new mattresses from a local supplier. The facility management committee to oversee the management and maintenance

Monitoring & Evaluation

The project shall be monitored internally by a facility management committee the organisation shall constitute and externally by a committee constituted by the community members.

Sustainability

The facility management committee shall oversee the construction, proper use, management and maintenance to ensure longevity and accountability.

BUDGET FOR PURCHASING 150 MATTRESSES is $4500 AUD
