Northwoods Wildlife Orphanage home
Donation protected
In 1998 the Northwoods Wildlife Orphanage was established to fill a need in Northeast Wisconsin. I had been interning at Bud's zoo in Wallace MI for 8 years and everyone was bringing Wisconsin mammals from northeast WI since there was nowhere to take them in WI. Orphaned and injured wildlife mammals had few people to help them in the 15 counties of northeast WI. So I started bringing them back to WI and caring for them here.
Over the years, regulations by the DNR became so strict that all the other mammal rehabbers in the area have quit rehabbing. It is just too expensive to pay for all the supplies and meet all of the DNR's rules and regulations, as well as the expense of housing, feeding, caring for, medical attention, and needs of the various wildlife species in care. The only help received to continue is from so many awesome peeps out there who know the importance of our wildlife.
Currently I am the only Wildlife Orphanage in 15 counties north of Green Bay. Unfortunately, located in the middle of a small Village with those who don't appreciate the need for saving injured and orphaned wildlife, causes un-necessary problems for the wildlife orphanage.
In 2001 I officially became a licensed wildlife rehab facility, state non profit status since 2009. In August of 2011, the Village of Coleman attempted to shut the wildlife orphanage down when I wanted to add opossums to help. I won the battle but am severely limited on what animals are allowed to be here.
After years of searching, I may have found the perfect spot to relocate to, only miles from our current location.
I need your help to raise the funding to buy the ridiculously low priced property available for expansion to enable me to help more citizens in need. I provide a free service to all and pay for the expenses of the animals out of my own pocket. I can only continue by the generous donations from those of you who still care about saving our wildlife. I do this for YOU. Please help me to continue to do so.
Thank you to all of you who so graciously help me continue my mission.

Originally Dory and the Orphans Wildlife Orphanage, we had to adopt the name Northwoods Wildlife Orphanage on FB .... it refused to allow me to use the word "orphans". For information on what to do if you find wildlife you believe may need help, please visit our website at www.doryandtheorphans.com or www.matzos.net
Thank you for caring about our wildlife, if "you" don't, no one will.

{p.s. on "off" days I speculate whether I should have stayed at Bud's zoo and been on NatGeo on his show lol.}
