WE REACHED OUR GOAL!! MAHALO MAUI!!!

Fund's Purpose: To address any possible critical shortage of N95 masks on Maui by manufacturing quality "filter masks" right here on island for use by medical professionals, first responders, and other frontline people.
Goal: Raise $20,000 to secure supplies for and to manufacture 10,000 masks on the island of Maui.
Description: The prototype has been developed by Jennifer Oberg and Russell Van Dyken with input from four Maui physicians. They started with an N-95 mask and reverse engineered it using 2 layers of 3M Filtrete1500 filters, and 2200 filters (which are capable of filtering viruses) that they sourced on Maui, Oahu and the mainland. We now have the supplies to begin manufacturing 3000 masks. A team of Maui sewists is staged and ready.
Efficacy: We hear the voices of our medical providers who are asking if our masks will be “exact” replicas of the N-95. It is not possible for us to create and test an exact replica. We are using the best materials, and the highest quality filters that we can find that filter out viruses. Physicians at Maui Memorial Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Maui Lani Clinic have seen, examined and tried on the prototypes and understand exactly what these are. They are calling them "filter masks". They like them and have requested as many as we can make.
Funding Distribution: A joint bank account was opened by Jennifer Oberg and Kathleen Baldwin at the Bank of Hawaii expressly and solely for this project. Funds will be distributed by Jennifer Oberg and Kathleen Baldwin to vendors who supply materials needed for these masks.
Distribution: Russell VanDyken, principal developer of these masks is the husband of Kaiser surgeon, Irminne VanDyken MD. He knows and is in direct communication with the team of physicians and Interim Senior Clinic Manager at Kaiser Maui Lani Clinic. The masks will be donated directly to Tammy Uehara, Interim Senior Clinic Manager of the Kaiser Permanente Maui Lani Clinic for distribution. After production is completed they will be inventoried then delivered to Kaiser Maui Lani Clinic, counted and signed for by Tammy Uehara.
