Maui Fire - Help Family Get Back on their Feet

This is Cinthia Guadarrama's family. She is our beloved cleaner in Maui. She and her family had less than 5 min to run from the fires that devastated Lahaina. They are struggling with trauma and figuring out how to handle basic needs. They have nothing but the clothes on their backs. We met our original goal, but have added to the goal because there has been NO WORK for Cinthia or her husband since visitors in West Maui left directly after the fires. They want to get back to work. They are hard workers and want to provide for their family but there is no work to be had. So much of the island is in standstill because of the lack of visitors. Imagine the frustration of needing to rebuild your lives but having no way to do that!

Cinthia embodies everything about the aloha spirit. She is one of most genuinely kind people you could ever meet. She cares for our condo and our guests as if they were hers. Whenever we have guests with special needs or if there is an emergency that needs tending to, she immediately steps up to handle them. She not only takes care of the concerns but manages to calm down the guests and turns what could be a crisis into a good thing. This is not in her job description. She is not a manager of the property: she is our cleaner and has become a reliable friend. We have called on her many times for needs other than those related to the condo, and she generously offers to do whatever she can and even enlists friends or other family members to help out.

I have no doubt that she is just as kind and supportive to everyone she encounters. It is her that needs the help now, though. We are reaching out to our wider community to ask for donations. Cinthia's husband joined her cleaning business and now they both have to start from scratch. Their work vehicle burned, all their linens, cleaning supplies and equipment. Many of their clients lost their rentals, so once they get back on their feet they will have less income.

Funds will first be used to secure housing, to buy necessities like clothing, furniture, kitchenware .... basically everything needed for everyday living. Later funds will be used to get the business back up and running.
