Maui Wild Fire Victims
Donation protected
On August 8, 2023, Maui was devastated by wildfires. Our people have lost their lives, homes, jobs and businesses. The West Side of Maui remains isolated and without essentials, resources, communication and utilities. The insurmountable loss and trauma cannot be put into words.
The one thing they have not lost is community. With tireless and persistent grassroots efforts of local people and businesses alike, we have gathered together to support these victims in need. We are calling this supportive community the Maui Collective Contributors. We are local familiar faces helping other local familiar faces.
From the jump, we have been endlessly donating our own time, energy and finances into:
- Purchasing goods
- Soliciting goods from other organizations, businesses and individuals
- Gathering goods at our central location Guava Tree Bar & Grill
- Organizing donated goods
- Distributing goods for evacuees coming out
- Transporting goods to our West Maui hub at Napili Park
- Distributing goods to the people of West Maui. Outreach to residences and sheltering hotels.
- Distributing excess goods to other donation locations in West Maui
- Cooking hot meals for evacuees at our Central location
- Cooking hot meals for the West Maui community at our West Maui location
- Transporting those who want to evacuate but don't have the means
These goods consist of clothes, food (fresh and non-perishable), water, gas/fuel, butane, cookware, feminine hygiene products, adult diapers, baby formula, baby diapers & wipes, baby products, other hygiene products, drinks, medical supplies, and so much more.
Originally, we were just wanting to give from our own hearts and not wanting to take monetary donations. However, with the amount people reaching out and asking to send monetary donations, we've decided to create this fundraiser and expand our contributions to those victims of the Maui wildfires.
We humbly ask for your monetary donation to support our community for urgent, short-term and long-term needs. Your donation will continue the above efforts. We will also distribute funds to Maui residents who lost their homes. The hui of Maui Collective Contributors assures you full transparency in all we do. It is our community that is doing the most to help those in need.
