Maureen Sheridan's Funeral and Medical Expenses

Donation protected
I have started this GoFundMe for my friend Angelique and her sister Tasha. I am trying to help them save their mother's life, who's presently in a Jamaican hospital.

Well-known Animal Advocate Maureen Sheridan, who founded the first No Kill Animal Sanctuary and Shelter in Jamaica over 25 years ago, THE ANIMAL HOUSE JAMAICA, was originally from England and then moved to Canada when she was a young child. She has lived in Jamaica for the last 45 years.

Maureen was hospitalized three months ago in Jamaica after suffering a severe heart incident and then contracting pneumonia.

Unfortunately, she suffered greatly from neglect at the first hospital she went to and spent two additional weeks there because her medical file for transfer to a Kingston hospital wasn't in order. Finally, she was relocated to a private hospital in Kingston over two months ago.

After four weeks at the private hospital, and despite the medical neglect from the first hospital, she overcame the pneumonia, her heart was stabilized, and she was given the go-ahead to be relocated to an inpatient rehab facility to work on the many remaining issues she still faced. Despite all that Maureen has gone through and the long road she had ahead of her, she was ready for the challenges and further hard work needed in order to get her life back.

Then, five weeks ago, she had a stroke, fell into a coma due to oxygen deprivation, and remained unconscious for several days. When she finally woke up, again she was ready for the challenges ahead of her, despite her critical condition at that point.

She is still recovering from the coma and since has had two further setbacks as her body gets weaker each time. At this point, she is fighting for her life.

The only thing now that will save Maureen's life is to fly her to a hospital in Toronto, Canada ASAP to receive the urgent medical care that she so desperately needs. Time is against her with each passing day.

The cost needed for the Air Ambulance service with a full medical team on board will be between $35,000 - $40,000 due to Maureen's present medical condition.

This is a woman who has devoted her life to saving lives for the last 25 plus years in Jamaica, and she now desperately needs help in saving hers.

Her two daughters, Angelique and Tasha, have been struggling mentally, emotionally and financially for over three months. Angelique's sister, in the meantime, has had to take on Maureen's workload with the animal shelter.

With no medical insurance, the medical bills have been in the tens of thousands (US), hospital costs, doctors costs, medication costs, rehab costs, ambulance transfers, daily transportation costs to the hospital on the other side of the island etc. Add to this all medical costs moving forward, and also that which Maureen will need for the damages done that are not reversible.

Maureen has overcome so many challenges in the last year, is still fighting daily, and deserves a chance. We can't let Maureen and her daughters face this alone.

I am asking that you consider helping Maureen Sheridan and her daughters during this very difficult and stressful time by making a donation. Any amount will be a tremendous Blessing to the family.

Please help and share.

Thank you.
