It’s really hard and embarrassing to ask for help, especially since so many of my friends & family have helped me in the past. But I’m in a time-sensitive medical situation and I am unfortunately not able to take care of it myself.

Due to a combination of lupus and a medication I took for decades, my teeth have been rapidly deteriorating for the past 5 years. I have already lost many teeth. Most of the ones left have to come out. I am having 11 teeth extracted over the next month. I’ll need partial dentures to be able to eat and talk normally. The problem is that they are $3000.

I have been putting this off for years because of the expense. Now it is at the point where I can no longer fight off the infections caused by the teeth that need to come out. The extractions are covered by insurance. But the dentures are not. My dentist said if I wait to get fitted for dentures for more than a month or so, the remaining good teeth will start to spread out and new problems arise, as well as being unsightly. It’s all very embarrassing. I wish I could take care of it myself, but I have put it off as long as I can. It’s very hard to ask for this for so many reasons, but especially because there are so many terrible things going on in the world, this seems almost ridiculous. But I do want to be able to eat and talk normally, and so here I am. Thank you and here’s to better days ahead.
