Mauri Oaksmith Memorial Fund
Three years ago Mauri Oaksmith was told he had four months to live. That was
before he met Dr. Renato Martins at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Dr. Martins
told him about a new treatment called immunotherapy and that could help Mauri live longer with a good quality of life. Thanks to this treatment Mauri’s four
grandchildren got to know him better, he had more birthdays, more laughter, saw grandkids graduate from high school and college and in typical Mauri style, made a lot more friends and told a lot more jokes.
At SCCA Mauri received incredibly compassionate and loving care. His doctor
visits became a social hour with nurses bringing their colleagues in to meet the
man behind the jokes. His infusion station became the party zone.
Please join us in celebrating Mauri’s life by contributing to SCCA in Mauri’s honor and in recognition of the incredible staff who ensured that not only was his
treatment world class and comfortable, but was something that Mauri looked
forward to and enjoyed.
More information about Seattle Cancer Care Alliance: Seattle Cancer Care Alliance represents a union of patients and doctors, physicians and researchers, care and cures in the pursuit of better, longer, richer lives for our patients. SCCA is the intersection of compassion and hard science. We treat care differently. And, because of that, we see patients differently, too. Our care combines powerful science with devoted collaboration, where boundary-pushing discovery happens: care and science working together.
