Mavericks Rescue Team

The Mavericks Rescue Team is a network of highly experienced PWC/RWC Rescue Boat Operators and spotters that serve the Mavericks and Big Wave Surfing community by volunteering their time and equipment to provide a safety net over not only the Mavericks line-up but the North Coast on all major swells.

 

The Mavericks Rescue Team responds to a wide variety of situations, ranging from life threatening and non-life threatening rescues and injuries, vessel assistance, Ocean safety education and crowd control. Although we place ourselves and our equipment in harms we utilize the "Risk Management" approach developed by the Hawaiian Water Patrol, B.W.R.A.G, K38 and Mavericks Rescue Team in order to provide maximum effectiveness and the safest approach and egress on each and every rescue attempt.

 

Every couple of years we try and raise enough funds to service all of the Personal Watercraft and associated equipment, purchase fuel, upgrade our first aid kits, radios and help educate the public on safety out at Mavericks and the surf breaks on the North Coast. This year is predicted to be a very busy winter and fall seasons.

We have a specific goal of this fund -- to purchase an AED unit for the team and 6 individual first aid kits and water bags that will fit in each individual PWC, and six lifeguard rescue tubes. As always thanks for the support!!
