Max's Helicopter flying training
Donation protected
Hi - I'm Max Dedman, a helicopter pilot in the UK.
I'm seeking a career as a helicopter pilot and really appreciate your interest in my fundraiser.
I currently hold a UK private pilot's license and will be starting training for the commercial licence in early 2025. To get to this point, I've done lots of flying in various places, mostly at Gloucestershire Airport. This has been in a small, bubble-like helicopter called an R22, see below. I've also had to sit 13 ground exams, and I'm pleased to confirm I passed!
The next bit of training will be in the same aircraft, but at the airfield in High Wycombe. Once I've passed, it will allow me to start working as a helicopter pilot, conducting tours over the stunning British landscape. I hope to set up my own company to provide this service and look forward to working with some of the amazing helicopter tour operators this country has to offer.
This is something I am very much looking forward to, and I'll be sure to share my progress as I go. Ultimately, however, I want to pursue a career in the offshore energy sector. This will involve ferrying people to and from wind turbines, gas rigs and oil rigs in all weathers. To achieve this, I'll need to get an instrument rating, and this is where any help would be much appreciated. This rating will allow me to fly in cloud, fog, rain and high winds both manually and with an autopilot. The training requires larger aircraft powered by two jet engines. The red helicopter below is used for this training, and the yellow one is the sort used in the energy industry.
It's this training which will be the most expensive. I'm saving what I can and look forward to reaching this next milestone in the future, but anything you can contribute will accelerate my progress in reaching this goal. I am truly grateful for you checking out my page, and thank you for any donations.
