Anastasia would have been 37 & one month, Aug 13

Donation protected
August 13, one month after Anastasia would have turned 37. Her mother, Nina, and her aunt Tammy and cousin CJ will be visiting the gravesite this afternoon/evening. Friends are welcome to join and remember Stazia Stevens Bailey with them.
Our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderfully generous contributors. It made Nina smile that people thought so kindly of her girl. Remembered her. Loved her. It has been a very rough time since that horrible day, May 19, when Stazia's husband took her (and Don and Becky) from us.
We held a brief memorial zoom for her on what would have been her 37th birthday, July 13, 2023.
Nina will be in SLC/Provo on August 13 and hopes to connect with some of Stazia's friends.

Nina gave birth to Stazia on July 13, 1986. In this photo, taken July 7 this year, Nina is standing next to an image of her beautiful daughter, this wonderful human being. There was a private church memorial, a triple memorial, on July 7, where this photo was taken. Anastasia and her father, Donald Stevens, Jr., and step-mother, Rebecca Stevens, were remembered and laid to rest that day. Their three remains were entombed in two vaults and buried in the Old Alpine Cemetery that day, in two plots next to each other. (The gravesites are on the south side of the cemetery. Stazia's plot, which one day will also include her mother, THANK YOU TO ALL THE CONTRIBUTORS, is just north of the marker for Gifford. I spoke with Nina a little while ago and interrupted her looking at a brochure of gravestones.)
Parents should not be looking at gravestones for their children. Parents and grandparents should not be murdered. Wives should not be murdered. And to add insult to injury, Bailey's lawyers did not release the bodies (known to them as "evidence") for SIX weeks. And even more insulting, Wesley has had to pay over $6000 for the storage of Don and Becky for those weeks and Nina had to pay $3900 for Stazia! (For those weeks and weeks, these loved ones were in limbo. The funeral home could not accommodate three in the same place. We didn't even know where they were and when we could receive them.)
Wesley has kindly informed us we need a probate lawyer who practices in Utah and handles "small estates" in order for Nina to be recognized by the court as Stazia's heir. It is so tangled. So awful. There might be a life insurance policy, but there might not. Jeremy, as her husband, had he not been the deliberate cause of her death, would be the recipient. Their finances are intertwined. We will know more after we get a lawyer. Stazia and Jeremy were by no means wealthy and sadly their few worthy possessions (e.g., 3D printer, Playstation 4) had gone missing by the time Nina entered their home to retrieve mementos. (That was such a hard day, entering their home. Their fridge still full of fresh food, photos of happier days on the walls and mantle, dog paraphernalia everywhere. On a happy note, Stazia's little dog Midna was not killed and is now living with Becky's sister.)

If contributions exceed what we now seem to need to cover unexpected (and hideous) storage fee, lawyer, gravestone, and funeral costs (the vault alone was over $600!) we will make additional contributions to the pet charities Nina has selected.
Thank you, thank you. Your support has been so very welcome.
