May 23 to 24, 2024 Running for Uvalde. We'll never Forget!

Hi, I'm Paloma! An ultra-marathoner that often runs to raise money and awareness for various causes and organizations.

On May 24th, 2024, is the anniversary of the tragedy that forever changed the lives of the entire town of Uvalde TX and shook our whole Country. I would like to honor the lives of the 21 victims by doing 3 things.

1. I will be running from my house in San Antonio TX to Uvalde TX (about 70 miles) starting on Thursday, May 23rd at 6pm and finishing at the Uvalde Plaza before 5pm on Friday May 24th.

2. I will be sharing some stories from the victims in my Facebook group of "Miles for you..." @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/863183868176649/

3. The $1000 raised will be for a scholarship given to the "Jersey #21 recipient" of the football team from Uvalde High School. If we crushed and surpass this goal, then it will be used for more scholarships for students in Uvalde TX.

After the tragedy, the UHS football team decided that the jersey #21 was an honor and a responsibility only worthy to be worn by the player that bests represent the grieving community's values; a true leader, chosen by his peers. In 2023, that person was Caden Smith. I have no doubt that Caden is deserving of this scholarship, and I hope this helps him even a little bit with all the expenses he will incur in college.
