Maya Fights Hodgkin's

On October 12, 2018 I had surgery to remove an entire lymph node from my left collarbone area.  Cancer cells called Reed-Sternberg cells were found in tissues from the node, and along with other testing, confirmed the preliminary diagnosis: Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a blood cancer.   My treatment is six cycles (12 infusions) of chemotherapy, once every other week. I also have a lab work and exam appointment before every infusion.  Post-treatment I'll have frequent follow up visits as well. 

I am fighting this cancer with no job income and no health insurance. UNC Rex Healthcare has been beyond generous with their Charity Care program which reduces my out of pocket costs for treatment by a great deal. However there are other expenses not in the scope of Charity Care, as well as copays. Third party costs like physician fees and laboratory/pathology are not covered by Charity Care, and I also have prescription and non-prescription items related to my care.

I know many of you are struggling financially as well and cannot help at this time. Please know that I appreciate all the support I've been shown with e-mails, calls, messages and folks accompanying me to appointments and you don't have to give money for me to know you care.

Any funds raised will go towards paying down medical bills from October onwards to May or June 2019, and any left after medical expenses will go towards my car insurance & monthly payment and cell phone bill.
