Maya's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
On Friday, March 11th, 2022, my 8-year-old sister Maya was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. Ewing Sarcoma is cancer that most often occurs in and around the bones. Maya was experiencing left side rib pain and was seen at Urgent Care on February 26th. A chest X-ray and CT scan were done showing a 7x4cm mass behind her left lung. Maya was admitted to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis the same night. We are unsure where this cancer journey will go, but Maya will need a year of chemotherapy as of right now. They are also preserving her ovaries by removing them before chemotherapy begins. After treatment is done, they can reattach her ovaries to give Maya a 30% chance of having kids in the future. Our family is devastated by this news and is praying for a successful journey. We know that not everyone can donate, but even a share or a prayer can go a long way for Maya and the Cerda family. Thank you so much.
