Philip Mayfield was born February 19, 1970, he was a loving husband and devoted father of three sons. A man of great faith and led his household with God first. Those of us that have had the pleasure of knowing Philip, know he never complained in spite of any circumstance that he faced. Always smiling and sharing his infectious laugh.
On April 9, 2013, Philip underwent surgery that left him in a very vulnerable position. Dr. Christopher Duntsch who is nicknamed by the media, “Dr. Death” is now serving a life sentence after performing surgeries that left at least 33 people maimed and two dead. Philip suffered a spinal cord injury, he was paralyzed from the neck down after the procedure. It is only by the grace of God he was able to walk. However, over the years he had multiple surgeries and procedures to help alleviate the severe pain he encountered.
Due to limited malpractice insurance and many patients affected by the actions of Dr. Death, benefits were distributed to all families involved leaving limited settlements for each family. Once a settlement was issued, each patient was responsible for funding their care.
Since 2019, Philip and Angela were raising and saving money for a series of much-needed treatments called “Ketamine Treatment.” Finally, on January 4, 2021, Philip was able to start receiving those treatments, he was so excited to feel some sense of relief in the pain levels after so many years of content pain. Unfortunately, on the third day, during the treatments, Philip was diagnosed with Covid-19, he was hospitalized and due to underlying issues caused by the surgeries, his health declined and on February 12, 2021, he passed away.
We are asking our family, friends, and neighbors to come together with a donation to help make this transition easier for his family. Any amount will help during this time of grievance, Thank you in advance for your contribution.
