Mayfield Hall Care Home

Background:

26 months ago, the doctor thought Nan had suffered a minor stroke. It would have explained her symptoms of loss of balance and mobility, and the forgetfulness. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that our dear Nan was displaying all the signs of dementia and her decline was almost instantaneous. No longer able to deal with day-to-day tasks it became difficult to cope as a family caring for Nan. Not only would she forget and hallucinate but her physical needs became overwhelming demanding as she needed constant help with dressing, toileting, and bathing. Thank goodness for Mayfield Care Home who during Covid took Nan in and cared for her as if she was part of their own family. It was a very distressing time for us all, having to see Nan into a home and not being able to visit her as we liked, but we were soon reassured by the caring staff who always gave that extra time and care to our beloved Nan. Witnessing these examples of such great love and devotion renews all your faith in human nature. As a family we are forever grateful to the wonderful staff at Mayfield who for very little gave their all to ensure she was well looked after and loved right to the end. We are therefore proud to be hosting a Spin-a-thon in honour of Nan and to raise money for Mayfield Care Home, to help provide continuing support to it’s residence suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia and to show our appreciation for all they have done for Nanny Pat. If you would like to support the event you can do so by joining us (details below) or simply donate to this page where I will update on the progress of the fundraising and how your money will be put to good use. This is an extremely personal event to our family and many of our close friends. Those of you who were fortunate enough to have met Nanny Pat will agree when I say that she was such a special lady, a one in a million who was so kind and loved by us all. We very much appreciate all of your donations as well as the continued support you give to us at this sad yet time of gratitude as we celebrate the life of a wonderful person, friend, Mum, and just the best Nan there ever was.
