Mayra Needs New Lungs
Donation protected
My name is Mayra, I’m 25 years old and because I was diagnosed with lupus about 2 years ago, my body is trying to call it quits on me.
I have heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, and renal failure because of my lupus. I am going to need lung transplantation in the future, if I am a candidate, but I have a huge barrier: I am uninsured. I have 2 young daughters that I have to live for, they are 2 and 3 years old. They need me. I’ve been in and out of the hospital since December 2018. Most recently, I’ve been hospitalized since May 5th. I missed my daughter’s 3rd birthday and I am
hoping I can get out of the hospital for my youngest’s birthday coming up in July. My doctors say my condition is life-threatening, and they aren’t able to say when I’ll be able to get out.
I hope to be able to get insurance eventually, but the process is really slow, and there are so many hoops to jump through. I can’t get out of the hospital to be with my girls until I can afford to pay for the expensive IV medicines that I will need to be on long-term.
I appreciate you reading my story, and my family and I appreciate any help you are able to give. Thank you so much for your support, it means the world to me.
