Mayreau Animal Welfare
Donation protected
Mayreau Animal Welfare is a non profit organisation located on the small island of Mayreau, St Vincent and The Grenadines, where we provide free veterinary care and treatment (including vital monthly heartworm and tick prevention); facilitate spay/neuter clinics; feed and water hungry and thirsty animals; and promote animal welfare through community outreach and education.
There are no veterinary services in Mayreau apart from those provided by our volunteer vets and vet nurses. In emergency situations, due to the lack of proper clinical facilities in Mayreau, and occasional lack of veterinary personnel, we help transport badly injured or sick animals to vet clinics on neighbouring islands. Not only is this very costly and logistically challenging, but it also involves subjecting animals to extremely stressful journeys by ferry or speedboat, and the journey is dependent upon ferry schedules and sea conditions.
Primarily self funded for many years, our financial resources are very slender, and now we have reached the point where with the increasing demands upon us and the number of animals for whom we are a lifeline, we face an uncertain future, and indeed the possibility of being unable to continue our mission effectively, if at all.
We would therefore be immensely grateful for any help, no matter how small, to enable us to continue helping neglected and abandoned animals to the best of our ability. Since our inception, we have always been powered entirely by hard working volunteers, and so every single penny of all funds raised go directly towards helping the suffering animals, with nothing spent on administration.
Thank you so much in advance for any assistance you may be able to offer to alleviate the suffering of the wonderful animals of Mayreau.
