Mazzy Heyer Brain Surgery
In early February, while recovering from COVID-19, Mazzy felt numbness on her right side that continued to worsen throughout the day, she was rushed to the emergency room where they were concerned about a mass in her brain. Transferred to Texas Children's downtown they performed a series of tests and discovered a mass, which was impeding the flow of blood through her brain. This caused a mild stroke, and has given her high blood pressure that is creating terrible headaches. As she was still recovering from COVID, the doctor's decided to send Mazzy home and wait two weeks before performing the necessary brain surgery to remove the mass and hopes to alleviate her blood pressure issues.
The surgery will be 18-20 hours long, with a mandatory stay of about 11 days, which begins this week.
Mazzy is a sophomore, on the Varsity Softball, and Volleyball Teams at her high school. She is an amazing, positive, bright, and friendly person without a mean bone in her body. She always has a beautiful smile on her face, and it has been rough to watch her suffer through all of this.
Her amazing family is doing everything they can for her, however the cost of this surgery is going to be high, in addition to the previous expenses incurred prior to her surgery.
Thank you very much for reading this, and thank you advance for donating.
Willis High School Varsity softball team is also doing a fundraiser in her honor, on March 6, 2021 at Willis High School from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. All proceeds will go directly to her family for medical expenses.
