Sheldon's Fund

In 2020, our dad Sheldon Ryan was diagnosed with a very rare form of bone marrow cancer called Marginal Zone Lymphoma. After more than a year of treatment and fighting, the lymphoma has recently transformed into a more aggressive cancer called Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. Our dad has fought through all the treatment options available and they have not been able to defeat the cancer. He has been on a rollercoaster of treatments with high hopes followed by disappointments of the different treatment successes. With no other treatment options available, we are seeking different sources outside of traditional methods which are not covered by insurance.

We have created this GoFundMe to help financially support us to be able to fulfill dad’s last ambitions. All funds that are donated will be directly going to Sheldon to use at his discretion.

As you all know, our dad Sheldon is a selfless, giving, goofball. He still manages to make so many friends, even though he out fishes them all. Our favorite memory of dad happened in Portland about 5 years ago. We were all exploring the area and decided to eat dinner at the local food trucks. As we were ordering our food, there was a homeless man standing in the walkway asking everyone who walked by for some money. I regrettably thought to myself “that is so rude, please move along” and did not want to be bothered by the man. The next thing I know, I looked over and saw my dad talking to him. Then he went back to the food truck, got more food, and brought it to the homeless man. I felt like such a fool for my judgments. Our dad taught us many life lessons but this one will stay with us forever. Our dad has always been a hero and sacrificed for family, friends and strangers.
