For December 2020, MBV Gives Back will be working with Island Harvest as their charity.
Island Harvest was founded in 1992 by one woman with a cooler, a station wagon, and a strong desire to help people in need. Linda Breitstone, the founder, was infuriated that food from a local convenience store was being thrown away at the end of the day – with a safe house for women and children down the street. In response, she established Island Harvest and their mission, “to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island.”
Since those early days, Island Harvest has become Long Island’s largest hunger-relief organization.
“We are very excited and proud to be working with Island Harvest for 2020. The pandemic and resulting shutdowns have transformed the need for food and supplies into a dire situation for many families.” said Thomas Stridiron, CEO of My Business Venture.
As the challenges surrounding the pandemic stretch on, My Business Venture is thrilled to offer a new, “pandemic-proof” way to get much needed supplies directly to Island Harvest: YOU GIVE GOODS! Visit: https://yougivegoods.com/mbvgivesback to shop and ship items you would normally purchase and drop off. Not sure what to buy? MBV is also collecting monetary donations that will be given directly to Island Harvest at the conclusion of the campaign by visiting: https://www.gofundme.com/mbvcares Live local and are able to safely make a drop-off? MBV is also proud to offer collection boxes at it’s Smithtown, NY office!
We invite you to join our Winter Wishes Campaign Collection and make a meaningful holiday experience to those who struggle with hunger every day.
