Lydd station heritage group

Hi my name is Nicki I am one of a few volunteers who are trying to save our iconic Victorian railway station from demolition we are hoping to purchase the building from its present owner who has no interest in it at all and is just leaving it to rot . We started our group in about October 2022 and then sadly in November 2022 it suffered a devastating fire so there is more work to do but we aren’t put off by it in fact we are more determined to save it now our idea after we have the building safely in our care is to open it as a railway museum dedicated to our station and its purpose back in its hey day, it played its part in the war years transporting soldiers, horses , tanks, ammunition etc into lydd to be stationed at lydd army camp which still remains today . It took the iconic and now we’ll known romney marsh sheep to auctions at ashford market and they are now all over the world it’s a lovely building and beautiful land around it and it’s heartbreaking to see it in the state it’s in so if you care about our environment or about our history and don’t want yet another building lost to a housing estate I beg you to please please help us to save it from a certain loss unless we can do this we have a fb group any one can join for any questions or info you need we meet monthly and are racking our brains on how to raise money to do what we need to do so wether your are a railway enthusiast or just like me sad to see us losing all our important and iconic buildings then please donate to our fund any amount is gratefully received and from the bottom of my heart I thank you
