Barbara’s Road to Recovery
Hi all, thank you for taking the time to read Barbara’s story. Im Ana and Bárbara is my mother and I will give you a brief explanation of her case. My mother was diagnosed with AVM (arteriovenous malformation) in her brain in 2018 after she was rushed to the hospital for an extremely intense headache. Part of the treatment was to receive embolizations and the final step was the removal of the AVM, she has been receiving embolizations up until March 2021 when she had a Craniotomy of Removal of the AVM. Luckily she survived the 11-14 hours surgery because there was bleeding and things got complicated, she has a long road to recovery.
My mother requires Physical , occupational and speech Theraphy because her cognition was affected as well as her right side (leg/arm) and her right peripheral vision and speech. Since March it’s been a rollercoster of emotions for my brother and I which is all my mom have and I haven’t worked since then because she requires full time supervision. We didn’t expect her memory to be affected as much so we have gone through months of a lot of desperation, crying, frustration, fear, worry, infinite emotions all at once. The 3 types of therapies are crucial in order for her to regain mobility and try to be her normal self again.
This has been very hard on me since my mother is pretty young and was full of life before having this surgery, it takes a lot of patience dealing with a person that has had a brain injury/trauma and I try to stay very positive and optimistic for her, I need to give her all the support she can get but I won’t lie, it’s extremely hard to a breaking point but I must continue each day and pray to God asking for strength and guidance, I know he listens to my prayers and sees how hard I’m trying to hold on for her. I have became her “mother”, therapist, psychologist, teacher, everything you can imagine, i only pray she recovers soon from this but there is no really telling in time, it’s up to her brain and this organ is one of the organs that takes the longest to heal.
As everyone should know having health issues is very costly. I will appreciate any help/donation that you are able to provide in order for her to obtain all the Theraphy she will need to fully recover to her normal self, this will also help me with her personal expenses. Any amount you are able to donate helps, and please feel free to share among friends and social media. There is a link at the end once the donation is completed. Help me help my mom ❤️. Thank you for your time and God Bless you in all ways possible.
