Hi, my name is Darin Tucker, and I am raising funds for Brian McDermott, a close friend and peer of mine. Being outdoor enthusiasts, Brian and his family (wife and two boys) spend much of their time outdoors. This past weekend Brian and his family were camping in a state park when a storm began to roll through. As the winds picked up, Brian scrambled to pick up their items around camp that might blow away. When doing so, a nearby tree was uprooted, hitting Brian across the back trapping him underneath it. Nearby campers rushed to his aid and had to use chainsaws to cut him free. Brian was Life Flighted to a nearby hospital. It was discovered that Brian had a punctured lung, 8 broken ribs and his L3 and L4 vertebrae were crushed. Brian received emergency surgery for his spine. The physicians ultimately fused his back from L1-L5. The physicians stated that his spinal cord was intact but that there would be swelling from the incident as well as from surgery. Over the past few days, the sensation in his legs has begun to return slowly, and he can slightly move his legs. Due to the nature/severity of his injury, Brian will soon be relocated out of state for spinal rehabiliation. At this time, it is undetermined how long Brian will be unable to work on top of having his family shuffling between 2 states. The funds raised will help cover his lost wages, medical bills and traveling expenses. Anything given is much appreciated to help Brian and his family get through this unbearable time.
