Build a house in Milot, Haiti
Tax deductible
I just returned from Milot, Haiti where I visited our CSJP Sisters for Christmas. The Sisters of St Joseph of Peace were invited to Milot in 2009 by the CRUDEM foundation to be a spiritual presence to the people. Sisters Ann and Maureen have been there ever since.
CRUDEM supports Hopital Sacre Coeur in Milot. CRUDEM also supports the outreach ministry of the Sisters, who provide opportunities for education, food and housing for those most in need in Haiti. Donations from folks like you also make their ministry possible.
While I was there I met many people who have new homes thanks to the combined efforts of donors, Sister Ann, and the local builders and crafts people she works with. Not only do people in need, such as those who are visually impaired, physically disabled, or orphaned, find safe housing, but the local economy is also helped and many people find paid work on the projects.
While I was in Haiti, I also met many more people in desparate need of safe housing for their families. They live in shacks or homes damaged by the earthquake and storms. I cannot get their faces or their stories out of my heart and minds, nor do I want to. What I want is to help one such family find a home.
This is where you come in.
Would you be able to contribute, any amount, to help me raise enough money to build a simple three room house with an outside toilet and kitchen in Milot? This costs $5,000. A bargain to our minds, but a fortune for these families.
CRUDEM will direct money raised to Sister Ann, who would oversee the building and pay the builders. Having spent the week with her and been with her on site visits and in meetings with the builders, I can guarantee that your donation will do good!
(The picture is one I took of Sister Ann with one of the local builders, inspecting a house that is almost ready for its new tenants.)
Can you help make the dream, hope and wish of a safe home come true for a family in Haiti?
Thank you!
