McHenry Vineyard CZU Complex Fire Rebuild Fund
Donation protected
On August 19th, 2020 the CZU Complex Fire burned down the McHenry Vineyard winery, taking with it two barreled vintages, our library of wine, and all of our wine making equipment. In addition, we have lost our 2020 Estate crop due to smoke damage. Thankfully the vineyard, though damaged, survived. The fire also scorched the surrounding redwood forest and destroyed our cabin, the "Caboose," which was hand-built by Annalisa's grandfather, Dean McHenry Sr., her mother, Linda McHenry, and her uncle Dean McHenry, Jr. It was a cherished building and gathering place for the McHenry family and friends.
With the impact of the fire and the breadth of the rebuild process coming into focus, we have decided to start this campaign. We are a small family winery business without a lot of wiggle room. With the pandemic slowing sales in 2020 and the loss of three vintages, the business will need help to rebuild. McHenry Vineyard is a labor of love. We (Annalisa and Brandon) have other careers, as did Henry and Linda before us. We do this on the side because we love it and we love being stewards of this beautiful land. McHenry Vineyard is what brings us to this place and allows us to share it with friends, family and customers.
This campaign will help us rebuild the winery, our cabin, and our business. It will also aid in the cleanup of the extensive damage to the land. We are hopeful that the insurance process will go well, however it is clear that there will be costs that exceed our coverage.
We know the world around us is in dire need of healing, and that our problems are small in comparison. We are asking humbly for your help, and hope to continue sharing our Pinot noir and beautiful land with all of you.
