Medical Expenses

Hello, My name is Kyle Johnson. First let me start by saying what a amazing blessing it is to be able to have access to a platform such as this. I also want to acknowledge that I'm aware times are tough for many people all over the world these days. I am a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. That being said this is undoubtedly one of the most difficult tasks I have ever had to complete. I am typically not one to ever ask for assistance in any matter of my life. Regardless; I have no other options at this point. Recently I have been diagnosed with several symptoms that have begun to increase due to being involved in an explosion during my first combat tour. In 2011 during a company mission my platoon of 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion was tasked in completing. The vehicle I was in ran over a 60lb (IED) improvised explosive device. I received a (TBI) Tramatic brain injury as a direct result of the explosion. I was flown from the combat zone via helicopter to a medical treatment base following the explosion. Once I arrived lots of tests were conducted to understand the severity of the injuries sustained. I was treated for a stage 2 concussion as well as the TBI. The Marine corps saw fit to also award me with a purple heart from wounds suffered in a combat zone. 

 

 

 

I was kept under close observation for 2 weeks and unallowed to return to my unit along with 5 personnel who were in the vehicle with me. I was informed of the damages and told that as time goes on the symptoms will undoubtedly progress. Now 10 years later the symptoms have infact begun to take their toll on my brain. I have been diagnosed with degenerative brain function, insomnia, fleeting loss of fine motor skills, and PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). The symptoms described have made it almost impossible to aquire a job that provides enough income to support my family. Which consists of a 9 year old daughter, and a 5 year old daughter. Luckily I was able to find employment that was lucrative enough to barely survive on as a commercial door installation technician. However; with the progression of my symptoms recently it became unsafe to continue. There is hope still, which I cling to with all that I possibly can. There is a surgery available to possibly slow the progression of degeneration of brain function and possibly restore my fine motor skills. This brings me to the reason of creating this fundraiser. In order to be eligible for this procedure being that it's fairly new and experimental. I am entitled to paying a large portion of the cost upfront which is the amount i have set. Since my previous employment was terminated I am without insurance also. It pains me to my very core to reach out and ask for help. I have exhausted almost every other avenue. Someone suggested that I try to raise the money and so that's what I am doing. Please if you are able I ask for your support. Thank you for your time and God bless!
