McKinley Middle Golf Program
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Aaron Randolph and I am a Social Studies teacher at McKinley Middle Magnet School in Baton Rouge, LA. This past August I set out to start a golf program at our school. While I initially thought that I would have to beg students to participate, the interest and enthusiasm of the kids has been outstanding! The program has grown from 14 to 25, to now 32 participants. They each come after school at least one day per week.
Students began the program learning about what makes golf a unique game, how score is kept, the different types of clubs, parts of the course, and some basics of course etiquette. We then spent 5 weeks on putting and chipping. We ended the year with students practicing full shots with long irons and drivers. This semester was more than I ever could have imagined and I'm excited to see what next semester holds!

That is where I need your help... While I have been able to secure clubs for students to use while we practice, I would like to raise enough money to eventually have enough greens fees for each participant to play two full rounds. At the public course near our school, a 9-hole round costs around $6 to walk.
So often, finances are a major barrier to participation in the game of golf and I am determined to do my best to negate this problem. Your donation will go a long way towards providing these amazing students the opportunity to continue to participate in the game theyhave learned to enjoy so much. A portion of the proceeds may also go toward purchasing golf equipment and hats. We are also hoping to travel to New Orleans this year to watch the PGA Tour 2015 Zurich Classic!
Thank you in advance for your support!
