McKinley’s Diabetic Alert Dog

Hello Friends and Family
First off, I appreciate you taking the time to visit this go fund me page. August 21st, my 2 yr old niece McKinley was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (management with insulin, not just diet, because of pancreatic failure). She has been in the ICU since then. McKinley was given a diagnosis of DKA (diabetic Ketoacidosis) which is life threatening until stabilized. As a; Parent, Aunt, Uncle, sibling, or anyone, whosever been given the news a life altering sickness to a family member (especially one who's so little) you know your heart just drops. All these worse case scenarios run through your mind with a speed you couldn't possibly imagine. One of the scariest scenarios that could happen is her falling into a diabetic coma. This is when your blood sugar levels can drop too low and a young child wouldn't be aware enough to do anything about it. My sister would like to purchase a Diabetic Alert Dog to help when McKinley’s blood sugar drops too low or even sky rockets. These are life-long companions that can smell the small fragrant difference coming off your body that indicates someone's blood sugar levels are too high or too low (where machines have a 20-40-minute delay). This has been a saving grace in the battle for a parent to help their child live with this disease. This isn't covered by health insurance, but this is absolutely necessary to make life easier to manage this lifelong disease. Between treatment, monitoring the disease, managing it, and trying to live life as normal as she can have while living with type 1 diabetes.
Thank you; for taking the time to read this, considering helping her, and to those who are able to give.
