Mckoy Family Emergency

This New Year’s has been one for the books, first we got stuck in Atlanta due to all the winter snow storms in Seattle and Juneau. We were looking at ticket prices of over $2,000 to fly home. We drove from Florida to Atlanta. Upon arriving in Atlanta, we learned our home flooded and we lost our belongings. Too top everything else off we got Covid-19 and have been unable to fly home. At first, I thought I had strep throat until one morning my legs became tingly and my daughter had to call the paramedics. My daughter had to drive me to the ER where I learned I had Covid-19 and may possibly have a blood clot. I was extremely fortunate I had a mild case and did not suffer any long-term health effects with my heart condition. Although, we were fortunate to have my daughter’s home to stay and heal. We are now looking at flying home this weekend and our apartment is still not ready to be occupied and we will need to still get a hotel upon our return. And we will need to start replacing our belongings, as of now we only have our clothing we brought on our trip. When I first learned of our apartment being flooded my main concern were our button blankets, Tsimshian transcriptions, and our drums. I will now need to look at the entire picture of paying our medical bills, buying school clothes for my son. Unfortunately, I have been unable to work because we have been unable to fly home with Covid-19. I humbly ask for any support you may be able to offer. N’doyackshim for all your support.
