Help Bring Crystal Home!

If you’ve ever been lucky enough to meet Crystal Thornton, then you know what a bright light she is in this world! Her quirky and amazing sense of humor along with her infectious laugh brings joy to everyone around her. She is kind, generous, compassionate, and gives the best hugs! Although, she sure does know how to give tough love when it's needed too. She is hardworking and dedicated to taking care of her family, which she cherishes the most. She has a strong faith in God and an overall love for life!!

On the night of April 16th, 2022, Crystal was rushed to the emergency room, and we later found out that she suffered a massive stroke. She had a ruptured vessel that caused bleeding in her brain which leaked into her brain stem. Due to the location of the bleeding, she initially lost the ability to breathe on her own, was paralyzed on her left side, and her pupils had no response to light. The stroke also impacted her ability to be fully conscious. Nevertheless, we were thankful that she survived!

Over these last 4 weeks, the Neuro ICU doctors have been working tirelessly to reduce the blood in her brain and the intracranial pressure, in hopes that she will regain some of the basic functions. She has yet to be able to open her beautiful blue eyes, but her pupils are starting to show delayed dilation to light, we are seeing some eyelid fluttering and more frequent facial movements. She no longer has left side paralysis, is showing purposeful movement, and is starting to respond to commands. With the help of a tracheotomy, she is slowly starting to breathe on her own as well.

These last several weeks have been heart-wrenching and there is no clear path for her recovery. The goal is that she will soon get to a state of full consciousness so that she can begin an aggressive therapy routine at a rehab or long-term living facility. While we’ve started to see some positive changes, we know that the battle has just begun.

We have created this campaign because Crystal is the breadwinner of her family and as you can imagine this has had a huge financial impact. The family is insured, but like most of us, they don't have the means to pay for such an emergency. We need your help in lightening the financial burden of medical costs. All funds raised will go to pay for Crystal’s current and future medical care, as well as to help offset any additional unexpected expenses. We appreciate any donation made as every dollar helps! If you can’t assist monetarily, we ask that you pray for Crystal’s healing and to give her family strength as they navigate through these difficult times. Please help us bring Crystal back home to her family!! Faith in numbers has amazing power!

As Crystal’s medical condition changes, we will be sure to update all of you. We truly thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
