MDAS Survivor Brandy FHO (Hip) Surgery
Donation protected
Brandy A2128711 was rescued from our local shelter after being dumped in the streets of Homestead, Over Bred and with a dislocated hip. She is underweight and has several inflamed mammary glands, after being used as a breeding machine at only 2 years old. She walked onto an empty lot , where she was picked up by Animal Control and taken to MDAS. At MDAS, she developed Upper respiratory, which then became pneumonia, upon arrival to the vet she was having trouble sitting and was crying in pain. X-rays revealed she has a dislocated hip and the socket is worn out from the injury being left unattended and the hip bone and socket rubbing against each other. She will need to recover from pneumonia and then she will need to have FHO Surgery, which is the surgical removal of the head and neck of the femur or the removal of the “ball” part of the ball-and-socket that makes up the hip joint. She is on Pain meds and anti-inflammatory to manage her pain and comfort until her surgery. We were not expecting this emergency surgery and we need help. The estimate for the surgery is between $2,000 to $3,000.
