Empower Survivors & Help End Sexual Violence #SAAM
Donation protected
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (#SAAM) and our team is raising money to offer education, training, crucial resources, mental health services, and life affirming community awareness and advocacy. Please consider contributing what you can. 100% of donations will go to supporting survivors of sexual violence, human trafficking, child abuse, and exploitation in receiving discounted or free services like trauma informed counseling and evidence based treatments, in addition to promoting well researched training for providers, first responders, students, and educators. We are deeply committed to making our community a safer space for all.
Most have been impacted by the cultural pandemic of sexual violence, either directly or we know and love someone who has. While we may never be able to entirely eliminate the phenomena of violence, exploitive power and control, and the objectification of human beings, we can certainly reduce the number of individuals who must live with such trauma. Currently, approximately one out of every four women and one out of every seven men in the United States have been victimized by sexual violence. By the time my daughter is an adult, perhaps those numbers could be reduced to 1 out of 100 or even 1 out of 10,000. I’d like to live in a world where those numbers steadily diminish to 0. Every number counts. Every dollar counts. Every life counts. So let’s come together to make it happen. One tiny step at a time.
Teal, a color associated with trust, devotion, and healing, is a symbol for sexual assault awareness. Join us to “shatter the stigma,” speak up, show your support, listen, validate, be bold, hold offenders accountable, and refuse to participate in victim blaming. If you see something say something. And if you haven’t found your voice yet, just wear something teal. We will see you and know we are not alone. Thank you for taking the time to read this, consider, and donate. We need you now more than ever.
