Help Us Find a Safe Home Before Winter

Hi, my name is Sophie. Earlier this year, I rescued two cats from a life of mistreatment, and since then, we’ve become a small family. Unfortunately, I’ve faced many struggles in trying to find a safe space for us to call home.

I’ve sought help from various people to avoid ending up on the street, but this has come at a high cost to my mental health. Instead of support, I’ve experienced exploitation and abuse from those offering shelter, and I simply can’t continue living in this constant fear and instability.

Now, I finally have the chance to rent a small room for just me and my cats. It's a tiny space, but it could be ours — a place where we can live without fear. However, to move in, I need to cover the first month’s rent and agency fees, which totals €3,100, far more than I can afford.

Even though I will only have around €500 or less each month to live on afterward, I know it’s worth it to finally start living a life free from the cycle of mistreatment.

If we don’t secure housing before November, I fear I will have no choice but to face the winter homeless, along with my cats. We've already been through so much, and I’m terrified of what could happen to us on the streets.

I’m awaiting a response from the Social Office, but there's no guarantee they will help, and time is running out. This is why I’m turning to the kindness of strangers, asking for your help. With your support, we could start fresh in a safe place and finally begin healing.
