Meals for Elmhurst Hospital Staff!
Donation protected
Update 5/14/2020:
In 4 short weeks, we've raised over $25k, delivered 3100+ meals and supported 18 local eateries in the greater Queens area. The pandemic is ongoing, and many small business owners are now facing the financial strain of lost loved ones. The road to community recovery is long, and we need your support to continue!
Please consider donating what you can, and sharing our campaign widely with your networks.
Thank you!

Please support the staff of Elmhurst Hospital!
Elmhurst Hospital has been one of the hardest-hit hospitals in the state of New York, and it is currently at the epicenter of NYC's COVID-19 pandemic -- NYC Health + Hospitals, the city's public hospital system, has deemed Elmhurst Hospital its #1 priority because of the unprecedented surge in new cases.

News vans have encircled Elmhurst Hospital as journalists reported on the lines of people urgently waiting for testing & triage. The ER is now at maximum capacity, and tents have been set up to accommodate the urgent flow of patients. Even then, the hospital is depleted in staffing, resources and supplies. Elmhurst Hospital's healthcare workers have been on my mind recently, and I have been trying to figure out what I could do to make their shifts a little easier. After learning about a GoFundMe (please support them!) which provided meal deliveries to HCWs of Flushing Hospital, I was inspired to do the same for the amazing staff at Elmhurst Hospital.

Every little bit counts! Elmhurst Hospital is a 545-bed Level I Trauma Center, and there many staff members we can deliver meals to. Many of them barely have the time to meal prep, and most might not even be able to take breaks/ eat, but we will try to deliver as many meals as possible so that they (nurses, residents, respiratory therapists, janitors, etc.) will have one less thing to worry about while caring for those who need them most.
The goal of our grassroots fundraising campaign is two-fold. We aim to feed the hardworking staff of Elmhurst Hospital by supporting local businesses in the process; the more we raise, the greater our impact.

About the Organizer:
Cynthia Kuang is a lifelong Queens resident, fellow RN and current dental student. She grew up in the Elmhurst/ Jackson Heights area and feels a personal connection to Elmhurst Hospital because the nurses there have cared for her grandparents tirelessly in the past. This fundraiser is started by Cynthia and supported by team members who also care deeply for the staff at Elmhurst Hospital -- please join us in doing whatever we can. Thank you so much! ❤️
How donated funds will be spent:
All donations will be used towards ordering & delivering meals (order total, tax & tip) from local restaurants in the Elmhurst/ greater Queens area. We currently have 4 businesses in mind for our meal deliveries: K&L Delicatessen, Emoji Burger, 25th Ave Deli & Grill, and Farine Baking Co. We are aiming at 250 orders per day, and we'll be ordering meals (every other day as needed) from these restaurants/cafes for 1-2 weeks, and will then rotate to other places afterwards to help as many small businesses as we can.
Withdrawal plan to get meals to Elmhurst Hospital Staff:
All meals will be paid for upfront by the organizer's credit card, and credit card balances incurred will be covered by bank transfer of withdrawn funds to the organizer's bank account. Meals will be delivered to Elmhurst Hospital's Volunteer Department, and they will coordinate meal distribution. We will request for frontline staff to be prioritized first (HCWs, administrative, maintenance, etc.), and all other auxiliary staff, second. We will work hard to ensure all hospital staff can get one meal before rotating back to frontline staff.
