Hello to all the beautiful souls that took the time to read my story: I am 25 years old and have worked very hard to create the life style I dreamt of as a young girl. I now own and operate a small ranch. I’ve opened up my home for others to enjoy. I board horses for amazing people who I have become friends with. I have welcomed children in physiotherapy to the ranch to work with horses and other small livestock that brings joy to their hearts and helped them grow and heal. I’ve recently opened the ranch to elderly folks in homes who dreamt of being back in the atmosphere of there pasts. I welcome many different groups of people to enjoy the atmosphere that I created on this ranch. I love animals and I love helping people so I always wanted to be able to do both. I have come farther in doing so than I thought I would at such a young age. I’ve managed to do so on my own for the most part. As a person who loves to offer help I find it very difficult to ask for help. But there has come a time now where I need to reach out.  This passed August long weekend started as a good one. My girlfriend and I went to Merritt for the rockin river music fest. I haven’t left the ranch for 4 years in such a way to go have fun! We aren’t into party’s so we camp at a little lake 15 min away from the grounds .. we stay there all day and in the evening we go to the concert.  So back at the ranch I am a mom to 7 wonderful dogs, that are my life! One of the 7 I have had for 6 years is Bentlie. He is a border collie x blue heeler and we have not spent one day apart. I used to suffer from anxiety very badly and now it comes time to time but my animals help me stay calm.   Bentlie has been at my side every day. If I go somewhere he comes. The longest we have been apart for in 6 years would be about 10 hours. So of course Bentlie came to Merritt with us! Day one of Merritt I got a call from the ranch saying that one of my dogs , Bubba, my second dog after Bentlie had got an infection in his mouth and it was  close to his brain and he had to go in for emergency surgery. He will be ok and now has a drain tube in his cheek for a few days. The next day in Merritt I got another call that one of my other dogs, Brandie-blue caught herself  on something and ripped her side open so she had to go to the emergency vet to get stitches. In 6 years of having my dogs I have NEVER had any issues with them.  Day 3 of merrit, last day and one of my favourt artists, Dustin Lynch playing later that night. We took Bentlie for a run at the campsite we were at and he was running very quickly and lept over a cattle guard,  his foot got stuck and he slammed  forward into the cattle guard..being the long weekend no vets in Merritt were open. The Fairfield Animal Hospital in Kelowna is the only emergency vet open 24/7 from Vancouver to Edmonton. So we left all are camping gear and rushed Bentlie home to Kelowna. On our way there bentlie wasn’t breathing right and was vomiting blood. It was a very stressful drive as that dog is apart of who I am. The vets rushed Bentlie in right away. After what felt like forever to have the vet come and tell me what was wrong I was given very scary information.  Bentlie is suffering from a broken sternum, collapsed lung and air is leaking around his heart and a lot of bruising in the same area. He is on all sorts of support and at the moment they are draining air out of his chest cavity to get his breathing normal. He is fighting for his life right now.  They have had to drain his lungs a few times now to get rid of the air around his heart .. the last time they had to do it was 5 am this morning and since then his breathing has been better.   I got to see him today for ten minutes  and he is fighting hard.  Leaving his side was very difficult for me. I have never ever been home without Bentlie at my side.  He has helped me through many many struggles, he’s been there with me through everything, good or bad!  He is also a father to a  litter of puppies that have made many families so very happy.
Bentlie is a strong fighter and I believe he will get through this. He needs everyones love, support and energy.  He will have a long road to recovery but he will do it!
I am a soul supporter of myself and ranch. Life is full of unexpected moments that we aren’t always as prepared for as we would like to be. This is one for me. Having 3 of my dogs hurt at once is a big financial hit. Bentlies being the biggest and on going.
I am so used to giving help in ways and very uncomfortable asking for help. But sometimes you just need the support of others  and I am willing to be uncomfortable if that means my boy can be comfortable.
My ranch is called “Meant 2B Ranch”
as everything good and bad in my life has always had a reason for happening and in the end was meant to be.
Right now for the first time I am wondering why this happend and how could this be meant to happen ... maybe down the road something will come if this that will bring certain people together. Maybe there is a hidden reason and things will fall into place .. at least this is how I must think. Positive affirmations. Stay strong so those around you can too.
Any donations received will be going towards Bentlie’s vet bill  and recovery and if it exceeds his bill I will put the remaining donations towards someone/something else that needs it.
I want to thank you for taking the time to read my story. Wether you can donate or not, we would really appreciate your positive energy go towards Bentlie for a few moments  as he thrives on people’s energy.
❤️❤️❤️
peace and love to all.
