Meddle COVID-19 Fundraiser
I created meddle following a text from my dad discussing the necessity to raise money for COVID-19 vaccinations in developing countries and ongoing conversations about wordle .
Infections are surging in vulnerable communities, and as we enter the third year of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are yet to gain access to a single dose of a vaccine. As of March 2022, 13% of people in low-income countries have received at least one dose (current figure here). In addition, these communities require protective wear to keep health workers safe and oxygen to treat critically ill patients.
As you would be aware, we cannot fight a pandemic one country at a time. People in developing countries need access to COVID-19 vaccines to prevent its spread and lower the mortality rate. Providing these vaccinations will also help avoid the emergence of new variants.
Unicef has a COVID-19 appeal racing to get vaccinations and other supplies to communities in need. That is why we selected it as the charity for this fundraising.
