PARTNERING ERITREAN CHARITY ORGANIZATIONS (PECO)
Urgent Call to Save the Lives of Eritrean Refugees
It is well known that the camps sheltering Eritrean refugees are primarily found in war-affected countries, thus exposing them to tragic consequences and for which reason, we, the PARTNERING ERITREAN CHARITY ORGANIZATIONS (PECO), are doing all that we can to offer practical support to the Eritrean refugees in dire situations.

Accordingly, we wish to raise the following points:
A. Whereas there were more than 100,000 Eritrean refugees before the war in Tigray broke out, the hardship and suffering they experienced as a result is beyond description. Some of them fled to unknown destinations and faced starvation and death, while others, especially our fellow Eritrean sisters, faced kidnapping and sustained horrifying injustices by brutal thugs.
B. Sudan has contributed historically by welcoming and embracing Eritrean refugees for decades. This blessed nation of Sudan has faced a humanitarian crisis with millions of its people displaced, and many more are forced to take refuge in neighboring countries. Because of the war, the UN and other Charity Organizations had to evacuate their staff and close their services. With the war raging, the degree of suffering is thus doubled against the Eritrean refugees. Many tried to escape to Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Sudan. The abuse and mistreatment suffered by the Eritrean Refugees who fled to north Ethiopia was gruesome and unpalatable even to describe it. In a nutshell, the worst form of oppression and mistreatment was committed against Eritrean refugees. And the poor Eritrean refugees that were not able to leave Khartoum have become destitute. Armed gangsters have looted their properties, and some women were also raped. Eritrean refugees in Khartoum are thus forced to beg on the streets for their survival.
C. Large numbers of Eritrean refugees also fled to South Sudan, paying whatever was demanded for transportation, and then found themselves with nothing to survive on.

We, the Eritreans, as mentioned above, are charity organizations. We have been trying to address the challenges to the best of our ability. Those of us in the advocacy profession have been trying to let the world know of the plight of the Eritrean refugees, while those involved in humanitarian relief work have been mobilizing our efforts to save lives. Accordingly, we have offered relief for refugees in North Gondar who survived for days with a meager portion of liquid porridge. The misery the Eritrean refugees face is indeed severe and grave.

Therefore, we call upon the Eritrean communities living abroad to respond generously to the plight of fellow refugees. Now is the time to put into practice the valuable inter-supportive Eritrean culture and extend your helping hand. Please, please let us stand with our people, and we are asking you to get involved with this urgent campaign to save the lives of Eritrean refugees. Hereafter is the link to a GoFundMe campaign.
